Lesson 4 - Optimizing your Niche store!

Now you should have your hosting account set up, your basic design of your webpage....Don't worry if it is not perfect, you are learning and you will get better!  If you have missed the Lesson 3, here is the link.  We cannot move further with your process until you have the software, domain and hosting account.  So go back to lesson 3 to get your tools!

So let me explain what I do with my niche stores. 

The hard work you did with keyword research needs to be implemented.  So that is the next step. Below is the video of the form you will see!  So let me show you how to do this!




Let me just tell you that SEO, Page Optimization, Keywords etc.  is not set in the stone and no body really know all about it.  But it seems to be that if your main keyword is baby carriers than everything you have on your site should have those keywords.

For example: baby  carrier is too generic of a keyword, but your  title should be  discounted baby carrier bjorn, ergo etc..  Your content should have those keywords, your html code (yourdomain./bjorn-baby-carrier.html) should have those keywords, and your domain name should have at least a part of that keyword.

This is what I have learned from Wealthy Affiliates and Bans forum.  You should really look into more ways to educate yourself about this. 

The below is the basics I use and people tell me this is o.k..  You can research SEO (Search engine optimization) and Page optimization online to get a better idea of this and you can also ask questions in BANS forum.

Lets talk about the first photo.  Store Page. When you are adding new page, that means you are adding a most likely adding the new brand.  You can do two things with title!  You can create store page title something such as "brand name baby carriers" but I prefer to actually use the product brand on my title  more specific such as "Bjorn Baby Carrier - Active Baby Carrier - Black - Green - Active Sports Wear"  because judging by the keyword research, I see that people are actually searching for the color as well.  The second fact is that if you get results from google, the person searching for it is at the last leg of their purchase cycle.

O.k. lets do keyword search.  Under Keywords: Type in all the common but do not repeat.  Here is why I mean! 
The bad spamming choice is to do this, " cheap baby bjorn carrier, cheap baby bjorn black carrier, black bjorn carriers."  Google would think this is spamming.  The better way to do this is to type in each keyword such as "Low Price baby Bjorn carrier, black baby Bjorn Carrier, Father Friendly Baby Carrier, etc!" Try to include main 3 keywords because you really want to rank well with them!

Under Description.  O.k. here you have to do a little more writing. And this is just to give you an example! And keep in mind this is without a lot of research.  So here it goes.  One of the popular brands for baby Carriers is the brand Baby Bjorn.  Here you can find discounted baby bjorn carriers designed for fathers and moms friendly and provides a great back support.  They come in black, and green colors and just a great for active mothers and dads!" You see, I incorporated all my keywords into a paragraph so when someone searches on google or yahoo for my site, the description will come up. 

Again remember this is from my own experience and it works just fine.  I tested few thing, and gotten some bad advice, so I corrected my problem and the above stated worked fine. The next few lessons will explain to you how to get targeted traffic to your site.  But we are not there yet :)!

Under the content: I only provide the main title keywords.  You will want to play with this as you move on to see what works better. But I would just include "Bjorn Baby Carrier"!  However, to get more traffic, you should invest some time into getting more content (such as articles) here if you can.  But do keep it short on the store pages because you want your products to come up not the text.

The website content (separate from the store content) needs to have aprox. 500 word count and try to add little articles each week on the products you promote.

Under your store category, find where these product are categorized.  I prefer building custom sites but they do require a little more work. (This is explained to you in the manual!) and than in category I just input 0 than, but you can input the category number. (The only reason I like 0 is because some of the products are not categorized well!)

TIP: if you are building custom page, when ever you input 0 or category number, in search query input your keywords for that store page so in this case it would be Bjorn Carrier!

What ever your main category is, select it so the store page shows up under that main category.  So baby carriers would be the one.

Page name would be Bjorn Carrier or just Bjorn.  There is a debate on this if it is better to have bjorn carrier or just bjorn, but again something you can play with and figure out what works better.

File Name:(let say you input just bjorn) File Extension is the web page this will show up at.  So if your main domain is www.babycarriers.com the extention is going to be www.babycarriers.com./main category/bjorn.html
